Welcome to Molecular and
Cellular Biology Branch
The Molecular and Cellular Biology Branch (MCBB) of IBS-CGI investigates various molecular mechanisms affecting genomic integrity; DNA replication, repair, recombination and damage response. We use molecular, cellular biology, and biochemistry methods to understand detail molecular mechanisms affecting genomic integrity.
In particular, the MCBB focuses on mammalian DNA replication during cellular proliferation and under stress conditions. The MCBB uses mouse and zebrafish as model organisms to understand phenotypic consequences when genomic integrity is challenged genetically or by DNA damaging agents. Lastly, the MCBB characterizes small molecules affecting different DNA repair pathways.
These multidisciplinary researches in the MCBB will elucidate detail molecular mechanisms responsible for preventing tumorigenesis and aging. Currently, the MCBB has multiple collaborations with national and international laboratories.

The IBS-CGI center is located on the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) campus in Ulsan, South Korea
